A Noob question about signet making signet Rings

okay one of my big projects is I want to make a signet ring my idea is to make a simple ring using ring wizard and i have a picture that i want as my symbol so my question is this

can i use the Heighfield by colors and the slop tool like in the Tutorial but the catch is the image must be in the negatives like its being engraved into the ring not projecting out like in the tutorial

cause I make it but my impression inst there i tried using bolean tool but that didn't help if I am going about this all the wrong way could someone please just point me in the right direction

I would recommend doing your signet ring with curves it is very easy.  Pat has some good videos on making signet rings you should check them out.

david you forgot the cage edit part

Your right thanks
would i still be able to transfer a picture that i have onto the ring ? cause that is kind of important ?

okay I am look at these picture how did you get the D shape to get cut out of the ring ?

okay i have an attached file with a .3dm file with what I am trying to do i put the picture in twice one raised and one sunken still trying to get it to engrave the ring

should i stop trying to do it this way ? using the Heighfield by colors and the slop tool ? okay i know the ring is super simple but i need to know how to work the picture into the ring I am definitely going to use curve thing for the final ring
