Cabochon in Rhino Gold

Does anybody know if it's possible to use cabochons in Rhino Gold. I find just jewels in the gemstudio.

At the moment it is not possible, but I'll talk to developers to be find out if we can Include this feature in a next version of RhinoGold.

Hi George.

You can make your cabachon simply making an Ellipsoid and triming it, after that apply the material that you want.

Here you are an example:

I drew my cabochon as an ellipsoid, and I want to draw the head and prongs around it. Is there a way with RhinoGold ? I cannot find the solution.

make an oval the size you need then a profile curve and do a rail revolve...or make an elipsoid (from the solids menu) the size you need width and length..then wire cut the bottom half away...results a cabochon

then make your own prongs-bezel- or gallery from curve extrusions...or you can make everything using a oval gemstone then delete the gem and replace it with your 'custom' cabochon
