changing surface using original curve

I have created a surface by revoling a curve around an axis. I then tried to manipulate the surface by moving the control points on the original curve. The curve moves but not the surface. I have followed the steps on the video at Rhinogold.com, but no luck. Any ideas what I am missing?

 you need to turn on history first before you revolve
