Hi Robert,

Only you can extrude one curve with a caps when the curve is plane . You can  make a surface with your curve and use extrude surface and then it´s one solid.

when that happens you need to use the 'project to cplane command, delete original curves' and your curves will now be

'planer' or flat  or make your surface and 'offset solid' to be a solid or you can also try extrude surface get used to projecting to cplane as you might need it alot! whenever you see your curves are not flat on the cplane you'll need it

Just remember that any time you want to extrude solid, your curves must be flat.  In other words they cannot have that curve you say it has when you look at from the side view.  Once you extrude and you have a solid that is capped then you can use such commands as cage edit to tweak your shape how you want it.  Hope this helps.

that's when you need  'project to cplane' as I mentioned already ...or you can build the surface caps to make it a solid if you need to   capture shows same curve  'projected to cplane' now flat ready to extrude/with caps if needed

Thanks pat this really helped me figure why the curves were not extruding properly, what would be your way of getting the solid back into the same place/angle as original curved drawing?

I would probably just start over with the basic curves again.... if your having problems drawing flat curves play with your planer and project tabs in the status/ortho bars ...look at the help command to understand how they work  also look at what's turned on on your ortho... your curves could be snapping all over the place causing the non planer curves your getting  or just use the project to cplane command when all else fails ..about the surface to cplane send the file ? or I might flow it ...all depends on what I really need to do and what's the fastest way to do it ...might be faster to start over....you could  dup the edge, then project that curve and start over from there again all depends...go to rhino tutorial ...project constraint...'constraints' to help you with the planer/project tabs ...the tut and pdf should be in your  c/computer/program files/rhino /english/tutorials level 1...the pdf should be there ...page 68 in the latest edition
