This is not really difficult to do, but it is to explain the whole method. Is there some specific things you can't figure out ?

It's not complicated but you have to do some operations. The junction is not between the top and the bottom, but between top elements themselves. You have to consider this because the real difficulty here is not modeling, but understanding how to disassemble it, then recreate parts.
You could create a two rails surface between two elements, then cut it round and cap with _BlendSrf or _Patch depending of your initial rails choice.
Or create the surface with a surface from web curve.

The ring wil be printed in 2 pieces ( like on the photo) so that they can set the 4 arms with the diamonds and then assamble it togheter by laser.
Permalink Reply by Luís Oliveira on February 23, 2012 at 4:34pm You have a powerfull comand in Rhinogold (Dinamic profile). With this comand you do all arcs only with a line.
=)
its pretty hard to get the profiles just right but I think this is a good aproach. I make my bottom part of the shank then I made some profiles along the edges of the bottom shank, mirrored them over to the other side then with an arc I made a curve from mid point of profile to the other mid point. Then i did sweep 1 RAIL. good luck man. Its a tough one if you ask me.

Permalink Reply by pat schmidt on March 2, 2012 at 7:59am I don't have alot of time to help but if you use flow on the bottom of the shank and then cage edit with history on then edit the points buy rotating them and such you can come close or close enough to mill ...then clean up the wax with a file at the end before casting or just keep editing untill you like but by that time you will probably spent so much time on the model you won't make any money for your time (if your trying to make money?) or you will learn alot one of the two..as you can see I did not do it 100 % (no time but I hope this helps)
