RhinoGold

A serious Twilight fan has asked me to do this ring for them. Now I can see it's an easy ring and I would have no problems doing at the Bench but how would you do in in Rhino or Rhinogold.

Would you do it in two sections using curves and then join or use the ring wizard

I would make the dome top with the rim and milgrain first and then the shank.

Does any one know how to do a split shank

here's one of many ways.......

Thanks Pat,

that really helps, will give it a try

cheers

just play around with it...always experiment in order to get better

thanks George, good idea...how would you join the dome and shank. Would you just use the 'join' command ???

try it and see what happens, you'll find there are many ways to do the same things... and do you really need to 'join' them, try booleon union, the best thing is to just spend as many hours as you can studying the tools... go to rhino and dig into the command help and watch the vids on how the tools work...think about each command and how you can use it to make your jewelry and find out what works best for you ....soon you'll be making up your own ways to do the job

Keep the shank separate from top that way you can use the shank or top somewhere else (pendant or pin).

Never thought of that..good thinking. I'm so new to rhinogold, but would not joining leave naked/open edges in the stl file or do you mean cast separately and join at the bench?

You want them to be closed solid objects of themselves. As long as they are touching like they were joined they will be fine to cut out on a mill.
