I would like to engrave some pendants and rings, do you think it's possible to do that in R/G so that it is visible.
Would you use text command and boolean difference ?
Or do i have to take it to my local engravers? I would rather not, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've never seen what the text looks like on a finished piece, any examples anyone?
Thanks in advance

Permalink Reply by Bokeh on February 21, 2012 at 12:29am can you apply text to polysurfaces ? or just to curves
Permalink Reply by Mike Tarbuck on February 21, 2012 at 3:56am Do you mean engrave on Metal? Or in your cad file to be cut by mill? You can do this in wax either Boolean difference or raised. Text command in curves section. Then flow on surface. Pull down to difference or leave on top.
In metal would depend on your mill. But I would think you would use your Cam program to do that.

Yes, i should of said in CAD to be cut by mill
I think i now how to do with boolean difference. Does it always have to be created on a curve?
Permalink Reply by Mike Tarbuck on February 21, 2012 at 6:17am No you can just place your text on a surface, then pull it down to Boolean it. But if you want it uniform, it's best to use a curve to flow it on.
You just need to watch which text you use. If there are lines that cross over each other you may have to clean it up. If they don't Boolean, this is most likely the problem.
